Biography
I was previously a U.S. Air Force Judge Advocate serving in the Pacific. As a Judge Advocate, I worked for the United States Attorney's Office, District of Hawaii as a prosecutor. I was later designated as a Defense Attorney for the United States Air Force (USAF), serving in the Pacific, to include Court Martial work in Japan, Korea, Okinawa, Guam, and Hawaii. Following my release from active duty as a USAF JAG, I joined the USAF Reserves and continue to serve as a reserve Judge Advocate. Upon release from Active Duty, I joined the Honolulu-based law firm of Coates and Frey, AAL, and was an associate with that firm for five years prior to opening my own practice. As an associate at Coates and Frey, the focus of my work was on Family Law, Criminal Law, and Military Law.
I have a traditional Midwest U.S. upbringing, which I believe instilled a very strong work ethic. My education was via a Jesuit university (Creighton) which advocated service to the community. I believe that my extensive travels and life experience has made me a very resourceful and flexible professional; able to handle very complex and stressful situations with positive results.
Energetic, resourceful, creative, and personable.
Personal interests:
I enjoy outdoor activities and have a strong personal interest in all things baseball. My sons and I go to as many baseball games as we can, collect antique baseball cards, and play baseball non-stop.
