Where Central Maui’s celebrated N Wai ‘Eh (The Four Waters) converge, you will find a charming, comfortable, one-of-a-kind destination. Known when it was built in 1924 as the “Queen of Wailuku homes,” the building has been meticulously and lovingly restored to its original glory, with the addition of every modern amenity and convenience required by today’s traveler. The home and its lush grounds are imbued with a deep sense of history and, even more important here in Hawai‘i, a sense of place.
Old Wailuku Inn at Ulupono rated "excellent" by 49 travelers
The beautiful, seven-room Old Wailuku Inn at Ulupono is listed on the Hawai‘i Registry of Historic Places. The Hawai‘i Visitors and Convention Bureau honored it for two consecutive years as the most Hawaiian accommodation in the State, “blending a nostalgic ambience while providing the comforts and convenience for the modern-day traveler.” In 2000, the Inn was ranked Number 5 on Travel + Leisure magazine’s Top Ten U.S. Bed & Breakfasts list and in 2004, it received the Historic Hawai‘i Foundation’s Historic Preservation Honor Award. The following year, the Inn was the only property in Hawai‘i on Fodor’s Choice Hotels, the 2nd annual list of 20 hotels worldwide.
In March 2002, a three-room cottage – Vagabond’s House – was opened. It is a more modern and equally charming addition to the property. And so we say, "He hale kou." "You are always welcome." At The Old Wailuku Inn at Ulupono.
