Hawaii State Ballet was formed in 1983 by John Landovsky. The School's curriculum is designed to provide the highest standard of excellence in classical training. The school emphasizes classical ballet which provides the basis for alignment, placement, technique, strength and musicality. The goals of Hawaii State Ballet are to develop well-trained dancers, both technically and artistically, who are able to compare with well-trained dancers internationally.
Due to the physical demands of the performing art of classical ballet, students are encouraged to begin training at an early age to assure the development of their fullest potential. Students at Hawaii State Ballet study in a positive and inspiring atmosphere, and are encouraged to develop at their individual paces. As they develop the necessary strength, dance vocabulary, and maturity requirements, the students are advanced through the successive levels of the school.
