Conflict resolution workshop for freshmen
Twenty-seven high school peer mediators not only help their classmates mediate conflicts, they also educate their peers about conflict resolution.
During the freshmen long homeroom period Tuesday, Nov. 16, peer mediators facilitated a conflict resolution workshop focusing on cyber bullying. The peer mediators felt it was important to address the topic of cyber bullying because it has become an increasingly growing problem amongst young people.
"Having the peer mediators discuss cyber bullying and ways to cope with the problem can be very effective since young people tend to be more receptive to information and guidance from their peers rather than from adults delivering the same message," said Cathy Ching.

Dance and Music from Bali
On November 18, over 200 kindergarten, first, second and sixth graders gathered in Bakken Auditorium to enjoy "Dance and Music from Bali", brought to them by the East-West Center. The 6th grade has benefited from a 10-year long relationship with the East-West Center that has allowed them to visit exhibits, learn about various art forms, and participate in hands-on cultural activities from around the world.
